Commercial Revitalization Redevelopment or revitalization is the catalyst for economic growth. Why can’t things just stay as they were? Well, as more and more demands are made upon the City for services and more expenditure must be made to maintain infrastructure, the increasing costs cannot ultimately be borne by just existing residents. These increased costs need to be spread over a larger tax base made up of new businesses and residences. But new opportunities are required in order to attract new homeowners and business operators. New opportunities can be made available by developing unused land or redeveloping existing buildings and the associated land. This process rids the City of blighted areas making the existing space more usable and more attractive. It also tends to increase values of new facilities and existing commercial and residential areas as well. All together the revitalization aspect increases the tax base and increases value and quality of life for all citizens. In Casselberry there exists a Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA). This agency was created by the City To the City of Casselberry, revitalization of the downtown business economy and an improved physical appearance will assist in creating a vibrant core within the City which will, in turn, assist in stimulating interest in the surrounding commercial areas. To all of us, this redevelopment will help to eliminate physical blight, expand the City tax base, create and retain employment for local residents, improve the City physical infrastructure and improve the general quality of life in Casselberry—all without increasing taxes.
